So I have learned about the Ibotta phone app recently and to my surprise it’s pretty cool, so I thought I would review the app here so that you guys can take full advantage of it just like I am. First all of, what’s with the name of the app. It seems a little off the wall right? Well if you pronounce the name of the app out, it sounds much like “I bought a ….” and you fill in the blank.
It’s an app that you can use to get cash back on purchases that you are already making in every day stores like your local grocery store of even Walmart. I actually couldn’t believe it when I first heard of it. I thought maybe you get this at some off the wall place, but no we are talking Walmart, Target, Rite Aid, Walgreens, CVS, Chili’s, Dollar General, Sam’s Club and the list goes on and on. It’s dubbed as one of the most widely used shopping application available today.
They have a couple of ways to earn this cash back. First you must activate the items that you plan to buy within these stores through the app and when you go to the store to purchase them, you just scan your recent into the app and just wait for the cash to roll in. Some stores like Giant Eagle (Local grocery store near me) have integrated even further with the app. All you need to do is connect up your loyalty card to their app and the cash back is automatically tied to your account. It’s pretty simple to do.
Over $130,000,000 have been given out as cash back earnings to it’s users. You could be a part of it.

- Either link your loyalty card or if that’s not an option, scan in your receipt to the app
- That’s it, your cash back will be on it’s way to you in no time.
Unlock your rebates, shop and then scan for proof of purchase.
Is this a scam? Do I really get real cash back?
Absolutely. You can choose to have the money delivered to you via Paypal, gift cards and other methods.
What retailers can I use this app at?
Most of the well known chain retailers will be available in the app. So who is this?
- Rite Aid
- Old Navy
- Papa John’s
- TGI Friday
- Cracker Barrel
- and many many more!
Are the rebates only on certain items that I wouldn’t normally buy?
Not necessarily. There are common rebates that you can get for just buying milk or eggs. It didn’t matter what brand you bought as long as you were buying eggs or milk.
I have messed around with many coupon like type apps in my day and they always ended up being somewhat frustrating because they were only on limited items and perhaps you needed to go through many hoops to get the discount. With the Ibotta app, it seems much different. I would love to get your thoughts in your experiences, but so far I am enjoying earning some cash back on the purchases that I am already making anyways.
